Derived from the concept of the circle, a symbol of completeness, harmony, and iterative growth, the Musical Vase is a testament to the designers' innovative approach. The vase's circular shape, with plants growing from the center, symbolizes the vigorous vitality of plants to break through limited space and bloom brilliantly. The vase's minimalist Zen shape allows the sound to spread to the depths of people's hearts, while the hollowed-out part of the shape brings more imagination.
The Musical Vase is not just a vase. It's a multifunctional piece suitable for different scenes. It can hold flowers, dried flowers, or fruits, and the detachable transparent glass container and the platform enable it to combine with the object being held in different ways. At the bottom of the vase is a Bluetooth player, which attempts to establish a dialogue between human and nature by integrating with the vase, bringing a multi-sensory experience to people.
The design process involved the use of 3D printing for the shell, which was then painted and polished. A glass container was placed in the middle to hold the flowers, and ABS plastic materials and glass materials were used for mass production. The vase's size is 265*290*125 (mm), and its white color is used to set off the natural beauty of plants.
The design team, which includes Leijing Zhou, Ying Zhou, Yingqiao Chen, Si Huang, Tianyi Li, Jie Gao, Dong Qian, Jianhua Liu, Pitchayapat Sonchaeng, and Shijian Luo, started the project in Hangzhou in July 2020 and completed it in September 2020. The team's focus was on creating a design that puts natural plants at the center and creates maximum space for presenting the beauty of plants.
The Musical Vase is more than just a design; it's a statement about the importance of connecting with nature. The designers believe that the essential function of a vase is to present the beauty of natural plants instead of over-decorating itself. With the Musical Vase, they have created a design that brings peace, imagination, and harmony into human life.
